• Jaguars running backs coach Terry Robiskie entered the coaching ranks with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1982, with whom he held multiple positions for 12 years ( ), reaching the playoffs seven times with four division titles and a Super Bowl XVIII title. Through the first 14 weeks of the season, TE Darren Waller has been on a tear and is on pace for the first 1,000-yard season of his career, while currently ranked sixth all-time among Raiders tight ends for receiving yards in a single season. The Raiders get to stay home and host the Los Angeles Chargers on "Thursday Night Football" next week, who just pulled off a big upset victory over the Green Bay Packers. The Lions travel to Chicago to take on the struggling Bears, who just lost their fourth straight game to the Philadelphia Eagles. For whatever reason, the Raiders’ first encounter with the Chargers in 2019 takes place 10 weeks into the season. The Raiders will be in the midst of a three-game home-stand when the Chargers come to Oakland for the very last time.
Instead of firing a pass into the end zone amid pressure, Stabler meekly flipped the football forward and onto the grass while being tackled — allowing running back Pete Banaszak to recover it. The Raiders played the Steelers that afternoon in an AFC divisional playoff game at Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium, beginning a rivalry between the franchises that would come to define the decade. On February 25, 2019, the Raiders reached an agreement in principle with the Coliseum Authority to return to the Coliseum for at least the 2019 season. Rent for the 2019 season cost the team $7.5 million, and rent for the 2020 season would have increased to $10.5 million if the option was invoked due to construction delays to Allegiant Stadium; the option for the 2020 season was never exercised. As part of the lease agreement, the Raiders did not receive naming rights revenue from RingCentral, and game-day expenses for the Coliseum Authority would also be capped.
The Raiders had withstood a few body blows from the Tennessee offense, but headed into halftime the score was all knotted up at and Derek Carr and Co. were set to receive the second half kickoff. Last weekend, through 30 minutes against the Titans, if you were a fan of the Silver and Black, you had to feel relatively good. All that said, I'll state the extremely obvious and remind everyone that the 2019 Oakland Raiders are a much better team when No. 28 is in the backfield.

It was announced on June 11, 2019 that the Raiders would be featured on HBO's Hard Knocks, premiering on August 6, 2019. Derek Carr takes a page out of the Lions playbook and hits his running back for 31 yards. What a bad decision though, double coverage and he just lofted it. Derek Carr's 289 yards and two touchdowns aren't going to stand out in the box score, but he was simply fantastic. Outside of Derrick Henry and Kevin Byard, there isn’t much to fear when it comes to the Tennessee Titans.
Footage from the stadium shows a large number of raucous fans congregating behind one of the end zones. Now, Gardner Minshew is a different animal than Tannehill is, but all the same, if the defense wants to find some sustained success, getting pressure on the young quarterback would be a good place to start. That said, I'm excited to see how the team's playmakers out wide respond. However, with a rookie quarterback back under center, I'd imagine Fournette is going to get his chances Sunday afternoon; let's see how Paul Guenther's defense responds.
This was the Raiders' final game played in Oakland before relocating to Las Vegas for the 2020 season. With their fourth straight loss, the Raiders fell to 6–8, but remained in the playoff hunt as the Pittsburgh Steelers would lose later that night. The Raiders acquired all-time leading receiver Jerry Rice prior to the 2001 season. They finished 10-6 and won a second straight AFC West title but lost their divisional-round playoff game to the eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, in a controversial game that became known as the "Tuck Rule Game". The game was played in a heavy snowstorm, and late in the fourth quarter an apparent fumble by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was recovered by Raiders linebacker Greg Biekert.
Those teams also featured an additional foursome of future Hall of Fame players in tight end Dave Casper, kicker George Blanda, and wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff, as well as fiery quarterback Ken ("the Snake") Stabler. After flying to Houston for a match with the Texans, the Raiders were stunned by the news that Al Davis had died at his home on October 8 after having been with the franchise for all but its first three years of existence. A last-second interception from Texans quarterback Matt Schaub allowed the Raiders to win that game, but in the next week's match with Cleveland (a 24–17 win), Jason Campbell sustained a season-ending collarbone fracture. With backups Kyle Boller and Terrell Pryor considered unsuitable to replace him, the Raiders made a desperation bid with Cincinnati to acquire quarterback Carson Palmer, who had retired after a feud with that team, but was still under contract with them.
The final 2018 NFL standings also dictated that the Silver and Black will play the Cincinnati Bengals at home and the New York Jets on the road, as those teams finished last in their respective divisions, as Oakland did. The Raiders were not eliminated from playoff contention until the final week of the season after losing to the Denver Broncos. With Al Davis's passing, Hue Jackson was effectively in charge of all on-field decisions and he finally convinced Bengals owner Mike Brown to give up Palmer in exchange for all of Oakland's first-round draft picks. The deal thus having been made, Palmer stood under center as the Raiders hosted Kansas City in Week 7. But the team lost as Kyle Boller threw three interceptions to open the game while Palmer replaced him early in the second half. Despite holding a 16–6 lead late in the fourth quarter, Oakland allowed a touchdown pass from Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew to Chris Conley, then failed to run out the clock and missed the subsequent field goal attempt. Jacksonville would capitalize on the ensuing drive as Minshew and Conley connected again for a game-winning touchdown.
There are probably fewer than 10 parking lots in the NFL that have college-type atmospheres, where you feel like you’re at a huge event. This, again, is partly due to newer stadiums and overly regulated tailgating situations. The Raiders are the kind of fan base for which having a 3-foot-tall statue of Jon Gruden wearing a Corona visor is fairly common.
On December 10, the Raiders fired general manager Reggie McKenzie, who had been with the Raiders since 2012. The Raiders secured the #4 pick in the 2015 NFL draft, which was used on receiver Amari Cooper. The Raiders finished 7–9 in 2015, showing noticeable improvement over the previous season.
In the AFC Championship Game, in front of a raucous home crowd, the Raiders received a stellar performance by Gannon, who engineered two late scoring drives after the Titans had cut their deficit to three points entering the fourth quarter. The Raiders dominated this matchup with Pittsburgh, rushing for 232 yards while allowing the Steelers to gain just 223 total yards. Quarterback Kenny "The Snake" Stalber completed over 82 percent of his throws, while Oakland's defense intercepted Steelers' quarterback Terry Bradshaw three times in a victory. The Raiders played in their final home game in Oakland on Sunday before the team permanently relocates to Las Vegas in 2020. Unfortunately for the Raiders, the Oakland era ended with a last-minute, 20-16, loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. After the matchup concluded, some fans in a part of the stadium known as the Black Hole refused to leave the arena, where their team has played their last 327 home games.
